Construction during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Even though Affinivax was deemed essential as a vaccine lab during the COVID-19 pandemic and construction was allowed to proceed, the virus had an impact on almost every aspect of the project. Hereva Consultants was hired to provide project services from planning through to modifications, relocation and move-in.
Project completed in 2021.
About the project
The backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic presented additional and unprecedented challenges for the project but with some innovation and much teamwork the project remained on schedule for its original completion date of late 2021.
Affinivax secured a lease of approximately 47,000 sq. ft. at 301 Binney Street, Cambridge, with the intention of rebuilding it to include their company headquarters and an R&D lab.
Hereva Consultants worked closely with the Affinivax team to provide project services including design and construction management, master scheduling, budget management and relocation, as well as support during operational start-up.
Our project management team developed an early stage understanding of the project’s needs, and provided scope validation and generation, scheduling, high-level budget compilation services and real-time cost management during project delivery. In addition, we worked with Affinivax’s internal team assisting with approval and procurement of external services as needed, such as design and construction team members.
